Our General Dentistry Services Include:

Comprehensive Dental Examination

Comprehensive Dental Examination

A tooth by tooth inspection by one of our knowledgeable dentists is completed during your initial visit. Along with evaluating each tooth for possible decay, defective fillings, etc., we will use our diagnostic x-rays to see potential issues not visible to the eye. This thorough exam allows us to get a comprehensive look and understanding of your overall oral hygiene, and make clinical recommendations based on fully restoring your oral health to its natural form.

Emergency Dental Examination

Emergency Dental Examination

An emergency dental exam is a problem focused look at a particular tooth or limited number of teeth. Generally, common situations that are suited for an emergency exam are chipped or broken tooth, abscessed tooth, or tooth/gum pain in an isolated area.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral Cancer Screenings

According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, “Close to 43,250 Americans will be diagnosed with oral or pharyngeal cancer this year.” It will cause over 8,000 deaths, killing roughly 1 person per hour, 24 hours per day.” This scary statistic can be avoided by having regular oral cancer screenings at your dental appointments, which check for signs of mouth throat cancer via a visual inspection or diagnostic tools.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays

Emitting a fraction of the radiation as film-based x-rays, digital x-rays are the industry standard for state-of-the-art diagnostic tools. Digital x-rays are sharper, can be enlarged, etc. so that our doctors can make a more accurate dental diagnosis. This assures that the result is the best offered by today’s dental technology.

Dental Cleanings

Dental Cleanings

Also known as prophylaxis, this procedure usually involves one of our highly skilled and gentle dental hygienists who removes plaque and tartar at the gumline, checks the gum tissue for potential gingivitis or periodontal issues, etc. Then, he/she will polish the teeth and apply fluoride treatment if requested.

Deep Cleanings

Deep Cleanings

Also known as scaling and root planing, this procedure is usually performed by a dental hygienists who cleans out plaque and tartar below the gumline near the root of each tooth. This procedure is only required in the presence of periodontal disease which is determined by full mouth x-rays and periodontal charting by the dentist and hygienist.

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal Maintenance

After you complete the deep cleaning, it is generally recommended that you see your dentist or hygienist every 3-4 months to monitor and ensure that your gums and teeth are responding well to the deep cleaning in order to eradicate periodontal disease.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth Whitening

This procedure often combines the use of a concentrated hydrogen peroxide whitening gel with a specialized light, to lighten to overall shade of your teeth and give you a more aesthetically pleasing smile. The whitening can be accomplished by an in office procedure supplemented with at home trays. Alternatively, a less expensive version gives the patient at home trays only. These trays and gel are necessary to give you your teeth a “booster” treatment months or years in the future as needed.

Tooth-colored, Composite Fillings

Tooth-colored, Composite Fillings

Decay is a bacterial infection that can eat away at the enamel of your teeth. Once found, Drs. Leonard or David Gordon will recommend removing the decay on your teeth. Using tooth using tooth colored, composite filling material they will restore the tooth to its natural form and shape.

Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy

A tooth can become abscessed, which means that infection is present in the tooth’s nerve. When a tooth is abscessed, a person will generally know by having major discomfort and/or swelling. Root canal therapy is used to remove the tooth’s nerve system so that the infection is no longer present and to relieve the patient of pain.

Dental Crowns

Dental Crowns

When too much of the tooth’s structure is eroded by decay or broken off, and it can’t be restored with a tooth colored filling, a dental crown is required. Generally made out of porcelain, a dental crown is an artificial tooth that is placed on top of an existing tooth which is reduced in the preparation.

Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is an excellent solution for people who are missing a tooth or number of teeth. Essentially, a bridge is like multiple crowns fused together, and is used to span two or more teeth. As opposed to a partial denture, which is removable, a dental bridge is permanently cemented into place.

Full & Partial Dentures

Full & Partial Dentures

A partial denture is a removable dental appliance that is used to replace one, two or more missing teeth on an arch. It can be constructed of a variety of materials, such as metal, acrylic, etc. This is becoming very “old school’ since most people choose dental implants to fix the teeth in place. A full denture is a removable appliance that is used for someone who has no remaining teeth on an upper or lower arch and wants to have artificial teeth to aid in chewing and overall appearance. Although an upper denture can sometimes provide acceptable function and looks, lower dentures usually flop around and are rarely comfortable. Dental implants can make lower and upper dentures secure.

Second Opinion

Second Opinion

A second opinion is requested by patients who have questions or concerns about the dental treatment they have received or are about to receive from a different practitioner.
